About LingoSwipe
Learn a Language, Word by Word
LingoSwipe is a vocabulary learning app built for absolute beginners. Whether you are starting from zero or brushing up on the basics, LingoSwipe helps you build a solid foundation — one word at a time.
The app currently contains 815 A1-level English words, each with subtitles and translations available in 11 languages. Every lesson includes:
- Audio at three speeds — hear each word at normal, medium, and slow pace
- Real photographs — connect words to visual memories
- IPA phonetic spelling — know exactly how to pronounce every word
- Grammar notes — understand how the word works in the language
- Cultural notes — learn how the word is really used
- Example sentences — see the word in context
- A quiz — test yourself before moving on
The Languages
LingoSwipe supports 11 languages: English, French, Canadian French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Russian.
The app is currently focused on English vocabulary for learners who speak one of the other 10 supported languages. Full language pair support — letting you learn any language from any other — is actively in development.
Who Built LingoSwipe?
LingoSwipe was designed and developed by Juliet du Preez, an engineer-turned-mobile app developer based in Ireland. Juliet builds apps that are both useful and well-crafted — combining systematic engineering thinking with a focus on user experience.
She works as a solo developer, handling product design, engineering, testing, and user support. Her approach puts quality first, with apps that are actively maintained and improved based on real user feedback.
LingoSwipe is available on the Apple App Store.
