車 (kuruma)
A vehicle with an engine and four wheels, used to carry a small number of passengers on roads.
Countable noun. Plural: cars. Common collocations: drive a car, car park (parking lot), car boot (boot = trunk in American English), by car, company car, used car, car keys.
In Britain, people drive on the left side of the road (unlike most of Europe). Cars in the UK have the steering wheel on the right side. 'The car boot sale' is a British event where people sell items from the back of their cars in a car park. Black taxis (hackney carriages) are a symbol of London like the red bus.
